Safety Management Plans

  Goldskills Consulting works closely with you to produce your Safety Management Plan (SMP) that is simple, practical and effective.

A Safety Management Plan assists the employer, workers and self-employed persons to meet their duty of care regarding safety at a workplace and work site.  

Safety Management Plans will also assist business to demonstrate safety compliance with legal responsibilities and their Health and Safety Management System.

A SMP is a simple living document and must be available to all people involved in the worked performed.

Employers developing a SMP need to consider their particular workplace or worksite and the relevance to the work performed.

As a minimum, the Safety Management Plan should:

  • include your WHS Policies signed by senior management;
  • detail key staff and the organisational structure responsible for the management of safety;
  • identify hazards associated with the work;
  • include a training matrix of experience of the contractor’s employees;
  • show the types of safety records that will be kept and who are to keep them;
  • identify safety communication and consultation methods dealing with safety issues;
  • reference or include written work procedures,
  • include safety emergency procedures.
  • reflect a company’s Health and Safety System
